The sudden death of the umbrella

One thing that struck me on my walk into walk this morning, is the devastating and sudden end to an umbrellas life. Poor umbrellas…Merely purchased, serve a purpose (keeping owner dry and happy)….a bit of wind strikes, then BOOM! Sudden death by bin dunking or simply thrown to the gutter.

When many umbrellas meet thy maker, they form ‘Umbrella Graveyards’ typically visible in bins near public train or tube stations. I wonder what umbrella heaven is like?… Probably pretty dry (boom boom).

Are there any other inanimate objects out there that are ‘used and abused‘ more than the Umbrella…? (Not including Kerry Katona)
